As a member of the healthcare team here at Riverview Health, the Accounts Payable Specialist demonstrates active patient advocacy to ensure all rights are identified and met for every patient. The Accounts Payable Specialist encompasses all duties relating to providing exemplary clerical services at Riverview Health. Outstanding customer service skills and understanding of confidentiality and productivity are required by the Accounts Payable Specialist.


    • Reviews all purchase orders and/or invoices ensuring price and quantity is accurate and correct account numbers are assigned. Ensure appropriate management approval and work with vendors and managers to resolve questions regarding invoices or expensed amounts.
    • Responsible for Account Reconciliation. Enter vendor and invoice information into automated records systems and review vendor statements monthly and resolve any discrepancies.
    • Handle Payment Processing. Initiate preparation of checks weekly for all outstanding obligations that are due and process offline and void accounts payable checks as appropriate.       This includes capital equipment and construction invoices.
    • Requires knowledge of Accounting Processes. Timely and accurately complete month end period close, sales tax deposit record, outstanding leases and contract services, maintain vendor file including 1099 data when appropriate, and prepare month end accruals of outstanding and estimated expense, prepare and distribute assigned reports and maintain paper and electronic filing systems.
    • Perform routine duties of Fiscal Services Assistant such as posting cash receipt transactions, billing non-patient services and performing bank transfers as required.
    • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements


  • Level of Education
      • Minimum: High School Diploma
      • Preferred: Associates Degree
  • Level of Experience 
      • Minimum: 3 or more years’ experience in accounting and accounts payable.
      • Preferred: 5 years’ experience in accounting and accounts payable. Experience with Great Plains
