The Graduate Nurse manages care for assigned patients under the direct supervision of a nurse preceptor. May assist with administrative and clerical duties in support of the nursing care team and patient care. Obtains competencies for performing new techniques or skills required of the position. Must pass NCLEX and receive an RN license in the State of Indiana within 120 days of date of hire or transfer into the position with a maximum of two attempts.
Under the guidance of a preceptor, delivers competent and compassionate nursing care to assigned patients. Provides nursing care in accordance with established standards of care policies and procedures. Assesses patient care needs, establishes priorities and delegates tasks to ancillary support staff as appropriate.
Ensure patient information documentation and assessments are completed in a timely manner according to charting guidelines and effectively uses provided technology for patient care delivery and documentation.
Serves as a patient advocate by communicating clinical concerns in a timely manner to other members of the healthcare team, seeking assistance as needed.
Observes and performs procedures, patient personal care, and/or activities of daily living and transporting of patients with oversight by Nurse Preceptor.
Supervised by a Nurse Preceptor. Administers and assists with treatments ordered by physician and Triage patients and obtain vital signs.
Provides patient care in the provision of routine hygienic, nutritional, and comfort needs of patients such as, but not limited to: bathing, distributing fluids and nourishments, feeding, ambulating, changing bed linens, oral care, grooming, shampooing hair, toileting, etc.
Executes nursing interventions within appropriate scope of practice in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team, incorporating appropriate standards of care, practice, and patient outcomes.
Follows and meets the CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act 1988) requirements.
May receive and screen visitors and telephone calls and handle general inquiries.
Communicates clearly with patients, families, physicians and other healthcare team members in person, telephone, and/or email.
Assists with the maintenance of supplies and equipment.
