The Medical Technologist encompasses all duties relating to providing exemplary patient care services at Riverview Health. Outstanding customer service skills and understanding of confidentiality and productivity are required by the Medical Technologist.

 

3rd Shift - Overnight with assignment at Westfield Lab

Option for 3 12-hr shifts OR 4 10-hr shifts

Medical Technologist Job Functions

  • Evaluate specimen adequacy before test performance
  • Perform analytic test according to standard operating procedures
  • Adhere to laboratory quality control policies
  • Perform instrument maintenance
  • Correlate data and monitor test performance
  • Recognize critical lab tests

Job Requirements

Education:

  • Minimum Required: Bachelor of Science in one of the chemical, physical or biological sciences and at least one year full-time laboratory training or experience or both.  Employee must meet the requirements of Testing Personnel under Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act '88 (CLIA)
  • Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology from an accredited college or university, including 3 years of academic study and 12 months in an accredited school of Medical Technology.

Experience:

  • Minimum Required: General or specific technical experience in one or more of the following areas: Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation, Microbiology, Serology, Urinalysis and/or Transfusion Medicine
  • Preferred: Two (2) years experience in the above areas

 Licenses/ Certifications:

  • Minimum Required: MT (American Society of Clinical Pathologists) or equivalent within six (6) months of hire into the position.
