The Ultrasound Tech at Riverview Health is caring, patient, detail oriented and demonstrates physical and emotional strength in their work with patients in the inpatient, hospital setting.  The Ultrasound Tech contributes to successful patient outcomes through delivery of outstanding customer service as a key member of the healthcare delivery team.

Ultrasound Tech Job Functions:

  • Sets up and adjusts ultrasound equipment for proper scans.
  • Independently perform scans on patients according to protocols established by department leadership and take call, per the department schedule for evening, night and weekend coverage.
  • Uses expertise to explain procedures to patients, produce quality scans, process films and review films with medical staff.
  • Reviews and evaluates ultrasound films for technical quality.
  • Performs quality assurance tests and studies related to ultrasound as directed and provides input into CQI processes.
  • Maintains ultrasound rooms in a clean, safe, orderly, and well-stocked condition.
  • Accurately documents per established organization information management procedures.
  • Performs duties of a Radiologic Technologist as licensed, needed and required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Level of Education

Minimum: Graduate of an American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers Sanctioned School of Ultrasound or Sonography certification and graduation of an Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) approved school of Radiology Technology .

Preferred: Multiple modality certification

Level of Experience

Minimum: Ultrasound and or Radiology - 6 months

Other Requirements:

     CPR - Yes

     Type of Specialty Certification or other Licensure, if required:  American Registry Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) in Abdomen or Obstetrics/gynecologic or certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist in Sonography ARRT(S).
